How the KornitX Workflow Platform Processes Artwork
Gateway OMS generates print ready artwork based on either the rules set up on a product in Gateway CPP or artwork passed with an order. The diagram opposite shows the possible processing options that could then be applied:
Base Artwork can be downloaded, sent to hot folder or direct to printer
If for a multi sided product base artwork can be laid out in a specific way
Then if required both base artwork and print layouts can be auto batched together to maximise print efficiency
- Finally any of these formats can be sent for additional processing by the Cloud RIP and / or direct to the printer
Different printing techniques and different production methods need different types of artwork generated. The Gateway OMS system can create most common types of artwork required for mass customisation.
Raster
The most popular format available in JPG, PNG or PDF format used for sublimation, digital, DTG or direct
Raster (Wide Format)
An alternative raster format also available in JPG, PNG or PDF format used for larger format images
Raster CMYK
A CMYK version of raster files delivered as a TIFF for use when your RIP software is not handling your colour management
Embroidery
A specialist embroidery file format delivered as an EMB or DST and supported by most leading embroidery machines
Raster Vectorisation
Semi automatic conversion of uploaded raster files to a vector format either SVG or EMB
Raster PDF
A vectorised PDF that can use uploaded vector artwork or converted raster artwork. Option also available for adding white backing layers
Vector PDF
A vectorised PDF that can use uploaded vector artwork or converted raster artwork. Option also available for adding white backing layers
Vector Text
Specialist format for engraving or cut vinyl designed for creating vectorised text files
Typical Artwork Format for Different Decoration Methods
Sublimation
Uses raster flipped or inverted artwork in JPG, PNG or PDF format with crop marks for cutting transfers
Direct to Garment (DTG)
Requires printing co-ordinates, print modes, pallet type & TIFF or PNG raster files
Digital Print
Normally uses PDF files in raster or vector format often with multiple sides laid out on the same sheet to maximise media usage
Cut Vinyl Transfer (CVT)
Typically uses layered raster or vector PDF files with a separate layer for the cut lines
Embroidery
Uses a special embroidery file type that can be auto generated by CPP & varies based on machine used EMB, DST or TAP file
Engraving
Depends on type of engraving but typically needs a vector format like EPS but some can used JPG or PNG
Direct UV
Generally uses a layered PDF file with separate layers for white base, colour and varnish and nested on templates
Label Print
Often powered by faster print drivers like bartender labels tend to be simple image formats like JPG or mail merges
